I’d love to give a cute review of this novella in three little words, but I’m not creative enough and this book deserves so much more than that! If you’ve never read a book by Melissa Tagg, now is the time to try it. Three Little Words is a free e-book and it’s quite a steal. This charming story reads like a full book and I didn’t want Ava and Seth’s tale to end. I’m really hoping they’ll make an appearance in the upcoming Walker family series.
While in school, Seth Walker and Ava Kingsley found themselves on opposite sides of many issues, writing a ‘he said, she said’ column for the paper. When they’re reunited years later, they begin writing through e-mail and gradually become friends, but Seth’s girlfriend stands between a relationship developing. As Ava is trying to achieve her dream job, Seth’s working towards opening his new restaurant. Most of the story takes place in Seth’s hometown of Maple Valley, Iowa, a charming little town that’s just the sort of place I’d love to live.
I really enjoyed this novella. I liked how it bridged the author’s works. I got to see some old, familiar characters while meeting some new faces that will have big roles in the new stories. I appreciated how the relationship slowly developed between Seth and Ava instead of being rushed as some novellas are prone to do. The storyline was very believable. There’s also a two chapter preview of From the Start, Kate Walker’s story, which looks to be a very fun tale. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good, clean romantic comedy.
