Web of Secrets by Susan Sleeman Plus Giveaway

Web of Secrets - 200 x 300 x 72

Read through to the end for two chances to win!

First thoughts:  My favorite part of a Susan Sleeman novel is the amount of detail she puts into the investigation side of the story.  Web of Secrets was a entertaining read from start to finish.  I liked having the perspective of the villain in the story.  It made it more believable as he stalked his victim, you knew exactly how he was doing it.  While a few parts of the story were a little on the creepy side, I’m glad the author didn’t go into a huge amount of detail and get too graphic.  I also enjoyed how the author brought in a new character, Taylor, and gave her a big role as a new agent.  It was fun to see part of the story from the perspective of a ‘newbie’ learning the ropes.

Plot:  FBI Agent Becca Lange is working on a case of cyber crime when a victim surfaces from serial killer, Van Gogh.  Detective Conner Warren is on the case, but Becca wants to be a part of the investigation.  This case hits too close to home for her and she wants him stopped.  When it becomes clear that he’s after the one victim that escaped, Connor will have to do everything he can to keep Becca out of the line of fire.

Characters:  Becca has been through some difficult things in her life, but she’s managed to become a successful FBI agent.  She’s serious and focused, completely unlike Conner, who keeps things fun and lighthearted.  The two balance each other out and make sparks fly.  I loved catching up with Nina and Kait, from the previous books, as well.

Recommendation:  I’d highly recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense.  This doesn’t fall into my usual reading of Inspirational and Christian fiction, but it’s still free of any inappropriate content.  While it’s the third book in the series, Web of Secrets can stand alone.

Rating:  4.5/5 stars

I received a free copy of this book from the author and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Before I go, I must mention the most exciting news of all.  You know the endorsements they have at the beginning for other books in a series?  Well, there’s an endorsement for Web of Shadows by Yours Truly at the beginning of this book.  How exciting is that?!?  I think I grinned for a full hour after I read that.

What books have you read lately?

  1. CONGRATS on being in print!! 🙂 That’s so exciting you were able to endorse her book!! I’ve not heard of her works before and will have to check her out. 🙂

I tend to read books more geared toward the historical fiction with a ton of comedy side and love authors Deanne Gist, Kathy Marie Hake, and Karen Witemeyer. 🙂
